Good End to the Year

So it's December 31st and I received my check from my sales at The Shops Above Memory Lane in Buda, TX.  I started consigning my jewelry here when it first opened at the end of April 2010.  Sales were big at the beginning then tapered off in the fall....My check for December's sales was the biggest all year!  Now it's time to get re-focused on my creative endeavours and make 2011 even bigger.  Happy New Year everybody!

If we can make it through December...

I completely agree with Merle Haggard...December is a tough month.  When you have a small business, December can often make or break your year.  My "business" is not my only focus or my only source of income, for that, I am thankful.  Since relocating back to Oklahoma in August, I haven't had much time to exercise my creative muscles.  I also have the small hands of my 4 year old niece asking to help me every time my supplies come out.  I'm really hoping to have some more time to focus once the new year rolls around, thankfully though, I was able to complete a piece last night.

Only 24 hours in the day

Well, so far this week hasn't allowed me much time for creating any new pieces.  I now live in a house with my sister, her husband, and their two small children.  Making jewelry with little hands around is certainly a challenge, and explaining that they might not be big enough to help generally earns me a pouty lip.  Meanwhile, sketching and brainstorming continues so that some new creations can be made in time for holiday shopping and upcoming charity auctions.

Blog Virgin

So, I have several friends who blog and of course, I follow several blogs of my fellow jewelry makers and designers.  I've been hesitant to give it a try; I figure I don't have much of value to say, but I'll give it the old college try nonetheless.
